Guest

I put my autopilot on, put the desired altitude in the altitude select window, put on alt hold, but it won't hold.

How do you know the AP is on? Describe what's happening in detail.

1. Will the aircraft follow the heading bug with HDG selected?
2. What altitude are you at when you hit ALT?
3. What is the new altitude?
4. Does the VSI go a a reading for a climb or descent?(Altitude above or below you current altitude).
5 What's your speed?
6. Does the ALT button illuminate?
7. Is the flight director(FD) bars on?
8. Try turning OFF the AP, do you get a warning tone?

1. yes, it will follow the hdg
2. anywhere from 4,000 - 38,000
3. if im at say 1,500 the nose will just go down and crash
4. sometimes it says -1800 and then sometimes it says +800 or something like that
5. my throttle is up full
6. yes, the alt button does illuminate
7. yes, they fd bars are one
8. sometimes i get the warning tone, sometimes i do not

That's strange, I don't know what it could be. Dont Know Maybe there is a problem with the program. Can you post a link to the location that you downloaded it from?

Who made the airplane you downloaded?

And if you set it and it goes down and crashes maybe you should pull up so it doesn't?

I downloaded the file from the web address above, unzipped the file and placed the folder(as a whole) in my Aircraft folder of FS9. It shows up fine and fly's fine, just like the default 737-400. Altitude hold and level off works fine.

Check that your default B737-400 works correctly.
Delete the 737-300 folder you downloaded.
Turn off your anti-virus while downloading(you can scan the file after DL), it may be interfering.
Download the 737-300 file again placing the whole folder in the Aircraft folder within FS9 or FS8 in your case.

ok so my default boeing 737 400 doesnt work right either. i set it to hold at 3000 ft. at like 2,400 it shot up and stalled.

Somethings is corrupted, you may have to remove and reinstall FS. You may be able to copy the Boeing 737-400 original file from your installation disk. That's the end of my knowledge, good luck and let us know how you make out. I'm sorry that I couldn't have been more helpful.

You're probably just doing it wrong, but thats just my opinion.

Try the Learjet and the C-172 and see how they react.

You have to set your VERTICAL SPEED as well.

You seem to be having problems with some basics here. I'm assuming you're running FS2002. As I don't have it installed at the moment I am unable to explore that sim.

However... there is a brilliant tuorial for the default 737 in FS2002 available here.

Make sure you study it thoroughly, it also explains every aspect of the AP. 🙂)

I had that sometimes too with my Transavia 737-700

It works, It doesn't work, it works, it doesn't work
I don't know why? 😕
