Still having SB3 Problems

I still cant get SB3 to work. My question is can i use it on a regular laptop using add-on aircraft, or do I have to have a real cockpit simulator?
Also How do i log into a server on VATIM and how do i find my callsign?

you can use any aircraft that you want, as long as they have radios

How do i sign in on a vatsim server. I have read the PRC and it doesnt seem to say where you sign in???
