Did i read somewhere that FSX dosen't support dual core and will only use 2GB of RAM no matter how much you have installed.

No it doesnt support it but I spread it out like this.

I have 4 gigs of ram, If your board (bios) will support it now fine, but Vista will, and it'll use more than you plan on.

There is a difference between support and utilize. FSX did not Utilize Dual Core before SP1.... and I have the documented proof to SUPPORT Radarman...

As for two gigs of Ram... do some research on System Allocation and Physical Allocation... There is an amount that the board can recognize, but there is also a max that the OS can recognize... for instance, Vista will recognize 4gigs of TOTAL SYSTEM MEMORY... this is not your DIMM stick, but EVERYTHING with a memory modual in the PC... I have a 256mb Video card, and a 256mb Sound Card. These together took away 512mb of the allocated system memory BEFORE accessing the physical memory. This left Vista showing 3536mb ior 3.53gigs of available system memory.

When I saw this, and noticed NO IMPROVEMENT WHATSOEVER, I returned my second 2 gigs of memory and left it at 2gigs. Vista has NO PROBLEMS AT ALL running around with 2 gigs. I see it use about 900mb when loading windows, then after it settles, drops to about 500mb.... XP sat around 350-400mb of used memory, so its not much different...

The reason I dumped the 2gigs of extra RAM was because with 4 DIMMS in the board, and overclocking like I am, the board memory controller became unstable providing 2.4v of power to all 4 sticks, so my max overclock went from 3.43 down to 2.94!!! This was unacceptable. Once I removed the second set of memory (which was all matched) everything returned to normal.

NOW, let the record show that I WILL be using 4gigs of memory, but will need to replace my 1gig sticks with two 2gig sticks... and right now, Patriot Extreme Performance 2x2gig Kits with 5-5-5-15 (perfect for overclocking) is going for <$229 - You cant beat that!

JL, thanks for the verification, I like that readout you get at the top right.
I'm using the temp monitor that Intel puts out for my board (975X), what's the name of that and is it only for AMD.
