Hello
Im currently in the market for a new video card and was wondering if anyone could suggest a particular one.
Currently im running a nvidia geforce 7600gs with a 350 watt power supply 4gb ram,and a amd dual core believe its 1.6ghz xp pro.
addons are Actice sky 6.5, fspassenger, ground environment pro, ultimate terrain hawaii, pmdg 737, fs2crew cessna and 737. with all setting maxed except sight distance cloud draw and cloud detail with good fps. however with the addition of AS and ground environment pro getting a little stuttering just want to smooth things out a bit. will be upgrading to a 400 watt power supply as soon as i get the new vid card. dont know if that will help but doesnt hurt to try.
thank you in advance for any suggestions.
300 or 400w power supplies are not up to running high end machines with high end cards and 4 gig ram.
The smallest you should have is a 700w brand name not an unknown name.
Thanks for the input radar. when it comes to computer building im kind of a "back yard mechanic". so any input helps.. just out of curiosity because i never really new , what are some of the positive gains with a high end brand name power supply?
Just like any other product on the market.
They (cheap p/s) can make claims that they are XXW but can't produce when the time comes.
A top brand name will always back up their claims with a fine product and last for years.
www.newegg.com or www.tigerdirect.com will have both, just read the buyers reviews and it's obvious.
Antec, Thermaltake, Enermax, that's just a few top ones.

will a pwr supply help with frame rates?
If your card is underpowered because the p/s is weak, yes it could.
