I've added the above but I'm mystified about what improvement I should be seeing. Can anybody tell me how it improves FSX + Service Pack 1?

Thanks Radarman, the link explains a lot and I certainly take the point that as 70 percent of the globe is water it makes very good sense to get the best possible appearance. The changes due to different weather conditions sound interesting and it could now be that landing an amphibian/flyingboat in other than light winds might now be very different. I must choose and exposed place and try it!
