I had to uninstall FSX because I tried to install it on my other drive on the same computer that was running XP pro, and it F'ed everything up. So now I'm trying to reinstall it, and for the past 4 damn hours it keeps giving me failures, and its never the same one.

Is it just me, or is this common?

Uninstall it, then delete anything you can find related to the FSX install, then try reinstall. You will have to look in C/programs/MSgames/FSX.
And C/user/username/app data/roaming/FSX
