From out of the blue, all of the lights in FSX, aircraft, runways, etc.; are surrounded by a small square. Don't knw what that's all about. To make matters worse, I took off in a DC-7 and hit the smoke button. The smoke appeared - but in the vertical plane, not in horizonbtal, as it should! Does anyone know what's going on w/ my FSX? Thanx!

If you just added anything, that's the problem.
Chances are that you are using and Nvidia card, change the drivers and see if that helps.
