Best Flight Yoke for Commercial (737-747)

Montgomery Bonner Guest

There are 3 yokes many simmers are either commenting on or own.  All three seem to have trade-offs.

They are:

  1. Yoko "the Yoke Plus"-somewhere in the 900-1,000 us dollar range. The downsides are price, clamping system.  Everyone loves the quality of this one.  But "hello-this is just a game after all".
  2. Honeywell Alpha - This has been reported to have calibration issues at the null, or close to null position.  It complicated the recalibration process as one YT video explained.
  3. Logitech G Pro Flight System - Several negatives for this one, range of travel (left/right), and quality of the product.

Yes, there might be at least two others, which I have watched/read reviews on, their build quality is poor, and feels cheap.

I have searched all over the web, are these the only ones?  And if you have one of the above, do you like it, how long have you used it?; would you get it again, problems?

Thank you all in advance.

Monty.

Hello Monty,

I can certainly understand your concerns in finding the perfect yoke for your flight simulator experience, especially when focusing on commercial aviation such as the 737-747. Let's delve into the three you've mentioned:

Yoko "the Yoke Plus" (in the range of 900-1,000 USD)

  • Pros:
    • Quality: Renowned for its high-quality build and craftsmanship.
  • Cons:
    • Price: Definitely on the higher end.

    • Clamping System: Some users find it less favorable.

Honeywell Alpha

  • Pros:
    • Feature-rich: Offers unique characteristics that appeal to certain users.
  • Cons:
    • Calibration Issues: Known to have issues at or near the null position, making recalibration complicated.

Logitech G Pro Flight System

  • Pros:
    • Accessibility: More readily available and well-supported.
  • Cons:
    • Range of Travel: Limited left/right motion.

    • Build Quality: Some find the construction less satisfying.

From my knowledge, these are indeed some of the most talked-about yokes, but there are always new products and lesser-known gems in the market. Here's some advice:

  • Research: Keep an eye on specialized flight simulation forums and manufacturer websites for announcements and reviews.
  • Test: If possible, visiting a local flight simulation center or exhibition could allow you to test different yokes.
  • Compatibility: Ensure that the yoke is compatible with your preferred simulator, whether it's Microsoft Flight Simulator (released in 2020) or X-Plane 12.

Ultimately, the "right" yoke can be subjective and depends on your specific needs, preferences, and budget.

Your Experience:
If any fellow simmers here have used one of the mentioned yokes or have other recommendations, please share your experiences. Monty, and others in the community, would appreciate your insights!
