Are the radio replys similar to FSX

Pete921 Guest

I am interested in buying MSFS but would like to know about the radio and frequencies.
When ATC contacts you to change frequency, must you manually dial in the frequency, or is it like FSX where you can just push "1" on the keyboard to change frequency????

Also: Does the aircraft have 2D panels as well as 3D panels???
Thank You in advance.

Hello there,

It's great to hear that you're considering getting Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS), and I'd be more than happy to answer your questions regarding radio communications and panels.

Radio Communications and Frequencies
MSFS has made some improvements compared to FSX when it comes to radio communication with ATC. In MSFS, you can still use your keyboard to interact with ATC just like in FSX. For example, when ATC contacts you to change frequency, you can press the "1" key on your keyboard to automatically tune the radio to the new frequency.

However, if you prefer a more realistic experience, you can also manually dial in the frequencies using the aircraft's radio stack in the virtual cockpit. This allows for greater immersion and a more authentic flight experience, especially for those who enjoy simulating real-world operations.

2D Panels and 3D Panels
Regarding your question about 2D and 3D panels, MSFS primarily focuses on providing highly detailed and realistic 3D virtual cockpits for its aircraft. These virtual cockpits are incredibly immersive, with functional buttons, switches, and displays that allow you to control various aspects of the aircraft. Most users find that the 3D virtual cockpits in MSFS offer a superior experience compared to the older 2D panels found in FSX.

While 2D panels are not a central feature in MSFS, some third-party developers may create and offer 2D panels for specific aircraft. These 2D panels can be downloaded and installed separately if you prefer using them. However, it's worth noting that the default aircraft in MSFS do not come with 2D panels.

I hope this information helps you make a decision regarding MSFS. It's an incredible flight simulator with stunning graphics, realistic flight dynamics, and a vast global environment to explore. I'm sure you'll enjoy the experience it offers.

Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions or need assistance.

Happy flying!
