Hello there!

Great to see you expanding your horizons with the new X-Plane 12. Getting your hands on additional scenery, like the Western Alps orthophoto, really brings a level of immersion that's hard to beat. Here's a step-by-step guide to install the West Alps scenery:

Step 1: Downloading the Scenery Package

To start off, navigate to the scenery download page here. Click on the 'Download' button and make sure to keep the file in an accessible location.

Step 2: Extracting the Files

Once the download is complete, locate the .zip file and extract its contents. Extraction software like WinRAR or 7-Zip can come in handy here. This will result in a new folder, usually named after the scenery package itself.

Step 3: Moving the Files

Now you'll want to move the newly extracted scenery folder into your X-Plane 12's custom scenery directory. The default location should be something like X-Plane 12/Resources/custom scenery.

Step 4: Adjusting Scenery_Packs.ini

The last step involves modifying a file known as 'scenery_packs.ini', located in the same custom scenery directory. This file dictates the loading order of your sceneries. Open it using a text editor (Notepad or Notepad++ should work just fine) and place the line SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/SCENERY_NAME/ towards the top of the list. Replace SCENERY_NAME with the exact name of the folder you just moved.

And voilà! Now you're all set to experience the Western Alps in all their photorealistic glory in your next flight.

Keep in mind that every scenery pack might have slightly different installation instructions. Always refer to any 'Readme' files included in the package for specifics.

Just remember, we're all explorers in the realm of flight simulation, continually seeking the thrill of the skies in ever greater fidelity. Enjoy your flight over the West Alps!
