Hello,
I am an absolute beginner, but, I have installed FS2004 onto my AMD1700+ (512Mb) with a 4000xt video card, and despite getting all of the intros etc, etc, I get a black screen when attempting to start a sim.
Is this my 17" TFT screen? or my Video Card?

Chief CaptainIt's not the best video card that you can get, integrated cards in notebooks are usually a problem.
Be sure that you have DirectX 9.0c and don't use the latest drivers for your card, it's an older card and may not be able to handle them.
Turn down all the sliders in the settings part of the sim and see if that helps.
