Delete the FS9.Cfg and see if it works after a new one is built.
The fs9.cfg file is now located in C:\Documents and Settings\User_Name\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9. This is a hidden folder by default so you need to modify the folder options via the control panel: go to the view tab and check the "Show hidden files and folders" option

Hold down Ctrl + Shift while the sim is loading and the FS9.cfg file re-sets itself.

Or. if you can get to the menu, start with another aircraft then save that as your default flight.
Is the default Cessna missing from your aircraft folder?

Thanks 😀 I will try that but yes the aircraft is missing from the aircraft folder in fs2004 and i am not sure how it has been deleted.

If the default aircraft is missing the sim most likely wont start.
Try to find it on one of the disks, pick it off and put it into your aircraft folder.

See if you can load it (fs9) over itself.
