Hey guys,
I was wondering does anyone have a recomended setup for an Xbox Controller? Maybe someone else is using this to play the game or a link.
Iam really struggling to get it sorted cuz i dont know what each term means or does, its really complated for me, there is no plane go left/ right option, u see.
I want to be able to fly the helecopter using the trigger buttons to turn.
Also i got some fighterjets, iam having problems getting the engines to full power. Iam pressing E+1/2 and shift+F4 but nothing is happening, what iam i doing wrong.
Thanks Alot!
I don't think your post is supposed to be in this forum 🙂
SteveT is right.

Can you be a bit more specific. What are you using an Xbox controller for and what sim or game are you referring to? FS9 doesn't exist on Xbox, and as far as I know you can't plug Xbox joypads into PC's, so I'm confused as to what you mean
If you are more specific, I'm sure we can help you 😉
Iam playing FS2004 on the PC with my xbox controller using a xbox to USB adaptor.
Do you guys remember that FSX preview video where the guys plays FSX with his Xbox controller?
FSisFUN, I don't know how to calibrate the Xbox controller to work in a PC, but someone else may know about that.
Referring to your other question, try pressing and holding only F4. I guess that's how to engage the afterburners
Try going into settings/ hardware in the flight sim menu and assigning buttons to the activities that you want to control.
If that doesn't work you'll either have to fly with the keyboard (not easily done) or buy a joystick.
You might find it hard to fly an aircraft like a jet which has many crucial functionalities with a joypad, simply because there aren't enough buttons on the keypad. It might be quite good for helicopters though 😉
Good luck and let us know how you get on 😉
Use a joy stick and leave the XBOX controller for games. 😕

Roger that.I agree.
But can't you use a xbox 360 controller with vista? That's what i saw in that fsx preview vid.
Has it ever occured to you serious pilots - who'd gladly give a limb if the word Game were banned from these boards - that FSisFUN mightn't have the funds to get a flightstick?
Oh yes, I can see the 'logic'...: If he can afford an XBox, he can afford a flightstick. Not logical at all. The XBox might have been a present.
FSisFUN asked a legitimate question in a polite manner and at least tried to be specific. When asked by jolegg to be more specific, he promptly complied.
The fact that none of the respondents who had the heart to try and help weren't able to completely resolve the issue yet, does not mean that FSisFUN has become fair game and that his request should be ridiculed and taken lightly.
One misguided 'grown-up' jumps on a guest who asked for help... and others are just too ready to join the pack. Reminiscent of certain species and behaviour in the animal kingdom - and yes, I mean what I say.
...Or did I mistake this appalling behaviour by "would-be-adults" for a demonstration of "United We Stand" ❓
I think I've just been beaten up. 😞

Restraint..........
I tried to restrain myself but I just received a PM from Tailhook that made me even more mad than his unwarranted attack above. I tried to send this via PM so that it would not be in the general forum but he deleted it and said he did not read it. Here it is:
"I assume that you were talking to me, I took it personally! I didn't jump on anyone. If anyone was jumped on, it was me by you. I just told the guy to use a joy stick. Trying to describe how to set up his controller would be pointless. He would do better to just use the keyboard, instead of the XBOX controller. I didn't surround it with flowery words, it was just a quick comment. I didn't see you offer any advise before or after your rant at me. Your only reply was at me. I've read posts by people who asked for a password and get torn apart on this forum. I didn't even come close to some of the remarks that I've read people write in response to them. You assume that the guy can't afford a joy stick. You don't know that. He could just be misguided that he can fly flight simulator with his XBOX controller. The word GAME should not be used with reference to flight simulator. There are no points, score and you can't win or lose. There is no goal, no levels and no progression of any kind. Don't challenge my heart or call me a misguided adult. I don't have the time to write 13+ posts a day for five months like you but I help where I can. I give one short, to the point comment and I'm crucified. Why the anger? Did I do something to you?"
All I did was tell someone to get a joy stick. I didn't call them names are jump on them in any way. I certainly was not even writing to Tailhook.
Ok. Both of you take it to PM's and not on the board.
