Airbrakes

Like in FS2004, when you arm your airbrakes they auto-deploy. Does this actually happen in the real world?

Thanks

Nick 😀

A lot of smokers around here. 😀

Whatever you call them they're quite important if you want to stop before the end of the runway.

You are correct but they are too, I believe spoilers are called air brakes in the UK. Same difference 😀

Spoilers, air brakes, speedbrakes, whatever you want to call it......The name spoilers is given because they are used to "spoil" the lift upon touchdown. And yes, if they are armed during the approach, they will deploy automatically when the aircraft's main landing gear make contact with the runway.

Spoilers, while used in the air, are more frequently called speed brakes or air brakes. They are mostly used to slow down the speed of the aircraft.
