Civil Air Patrol Mission problem

I searched for and already found a thread on this topic but it didn't really help the problem I am experiencing. When I try to get to turnpoint two, the engine begins stalling as I get over 7k feet. The mountain you are required to cross is unfortunately a little bit higher 😞 I notice that when you climb to about this altitude, your co-pilot warns you about the building ice on the aircraft and tells you to descend below the clouds and engage the De-icers (although he uses another word for it I don't remember). Does anyone know how to activate it? How can you stay below the clouds when the only way to reach turn point 2 is going over the mountain range?

For getting Carb Heat/Anti-ice (on/off) you toggle them using H. I suggest that you get the list of keyboard commands for FSX.

I was actually able to climb there, you just need to lean your mixture and toggle the Carb Heat/Anti-ice (on/off) to on so no ice builds up and your engine doesn't stall. Try it and let me know how it goes. I messed up the mission because after my co-pilot spotted flares, I got lost, couldn't find the guy and made me fail the mission.

Wall Bashing haha

Yeah, need that carb heat on. Found the dude no problem after that, but was then given the choice of whether to head back to the airport or try to land on like a 500 ft flat area of land to pick him up. You can guess which one I opted for and it didn't work out too well lol.
