How do you turn an aircraft left or right when it is being pushed back using Shift + P?????

On the keys above the letter(not the keypad)
Number 2- tail goes right
Number 1- tail goes left
Be patient, it can take an aircraft length for the turn to begin.

Whenever I do it, it doesn't work. Do you need to hold it down?

Press Shift(while it's down), press P, the aircraft should start moving. Momentarily press and release 1 or 2 to turn while moving back.
