Years ago I used to tinker with 3D Studio MAX. I modeled this UFO (picture below) years ago using simple primitives. I have the software today but I don't have a clue how to go about creating the proper 3D model and then making it usable for myself and others to enjoy in FSX.

Any step-by-step documentation out there?

Does the SDK that comes with FSX DeLuxe play a part in this endeavor?
From memory, 3D modeling is but one part of the SDK. You might want to have a look at the SDK or wait for some of the members here who have experimented with the SDK to give you pointers. 🤔

What is SDK? Embarassed

All right: SDK = Self Developers Kit (methinks)
If you have the Standard version of FSX you're out of luck, as it is only included in the DeLuxe version.

When installing FSX DeLuxe on your hard drive, the SDK to my knowledge will NOT be installed automatically. To install it, you'll have to insert the disk and browse to the SDK and install it before you can use it.

I am short on time and would love to help, but head over to FSDeveloper, they are a great help. Their forum: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/ Main page: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/ and wiki http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

In the meantime, you can check out my FSX addons at http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=&Name=&FileName=&Author=orion&CatID=root

I am making a scenery with marinas, boats, docks, birds and an fully functional Acceleration carrier. Ask me if you want to beta test.

Hope this helps
