Does a message box come up or anything? Because in my case, I accidentally deleted MSVCP60.dll from my Sytem32 drivers folder. I had to reinstall my Windows XP to resolve this problem.

Sorry mate, but re-installing or re-formatting is the only thing that I can think of. BUT don't do this until you're 100% percent of what the problem is.

that really could be almost anything...

It sounds like your computer's not even trying to boot into windows, so I'd check your bios settings and make sure that your hard drive is set as a boot device (doesn't matter if it's 1st, 2nd, 3rd, whatever as long as you don't have a cd in the drive that's confusing it.)

Other than that, I'd use that linux cd and check out your boot.ini file, which is located in the root folder of the C drive. If you're not linux savvy enough to do that, lemme know and I can walk you through it 🙂

I'd say your odds are pretty slim though, sorry!
