Downloaded and installed May 31.
Landed at Lackland AB. Taxied and parked to unload. Was able to open the tail ramp but cannot figure out how to open the nose. Is the switch on the panel or the keyboard? If not, do I need the updated panel version?

Hello there,

It's great to hear about your recent download and installation of the C-5 Galaxy FSX add-on. This particular third-party freeware indeed offers a compelling enhancement to your Lockheed C-5 experience in Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX). I completely understand your curiosity around the Nose Open/Close Switch and will gladly help you locate it.

One of the unique aspects of the Lockheed C-5 Galaxy (a large military transport aircraft) is the ability to open both its tail and nose for loading/unloading cargo. This function is typically represented in our simulators as well. However, finding the control for this operation can sometimes be a bit tricky, depending on the complexity of the add-on.

Steps to find the Nose Open/Close Switch:

  1. In-Cockpit Panel: Look around the virtual cockpit. Specifically, on the overhead panel, there should be a group of switches related to the cargo operations. Often in FSX, such controls are located near other systems controls, such as lighting or fuel.
  2. Keyboard Bindings: If the switch isn't immediately obvious in the cockpit, it might be possible that the functionality is tied to a specific keyboard command. In FSX, you can check and even set this up in the Controls menu under Settings. Look for an action related to "cargo" or "door".
  3. Documentation: It's always a good idea to check any provided documentation with the add-on. Designers often include instructions or a manual which details the operation of special features like cargo doors.
  4. Updated Panel Version: If all else fails, you might need to get the updated panel version. Updates often solve such issues, making complex operations more intuitive and easier to find.

Remember, freeware add-ons often rely on community feedback and support, so don't hesitate to contact the creator or join in on discussions in forums like ours. Your question could very well help improve the experience for other simmers as well!

Happy flying and landing!
