A380 Engines are Vertical

Overwatch G Guest

I downloaded the A380 pack by Derek Mayer. Some of the aircraft engines are vertical in the model. Any fix for this?

Hi there,

Let me help you resolve the issue you're experiencing with the A380 pack by Derek Mayer, specifically regarding the peculiar orientation of the aircraft engines. The vertical positioning of the engines is indeed unusual and not in line with the realistic design of the A380.

From my knowledge, these are the steps you can follow to rectify the engine orientation issue.

  • The issue could potentially be related to a graphical anomaly that can be fixed by updating your graphics card drivers. Visit the website of your graphics card manufacturer (e.g. Nvidia, AMD, Intel) to find the latest driver updates and ensure they're installed correctly.
  • Another possibility could be a glitch in the rendering of the 3D model. Make sure you are running the latest version of Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX). Updating your FSX might solve this issue as newer versions contain bug fixes and performance enhancements.
  • You may also want to verify the integrity of the files of the Lufthansa Airbus A380-800 add-on that you downloaded. Sometimes, files can get corrupted during download or installation. You can try to redownload and reinstall the A380 pack.
  • If none of the above steps work, you could manually modify the aircraft.cfg file associated with the A380 model. Be aware, this is a bit of an advanced step. If you decide to go this route, remember to backup your current aircraft.cfg file before making any changes. You'll find the aircraft.cfg file in the aircraft's root folder within FSX's 'SimObjects' directory.

IMPORTANT: The aircraft.cfg file contains critical information about the aircraft's configuration. Modifying this file improperly can cause unexpected behavior or even render the aircraft unusable. Proceed with caution.

The aircraft.cfg file should contain a section for each engine that looks something like this:

[GeneralEngineData]
engine_type= 1
Engine.0= 5.00, -18.00, -4.00
Engine.1= 5.00, 18.00, -4.00

These numbers represent the longitudinal (front-back), lateral (left-right), and vertical (up-down) positions of the engine in feet. If you see any unusual numbers here, that could be causing the issue. Note that modifying these values will change the position of the engines.

Hopefully, these steps should help in fixing the vertical engine issue with the Lufthansa Airbus A380-800 add-on. Do let us know how it goes or if you need further assistance.

Happy flying!
