Spaceship 1 (C51)

I was watching the History Channel today and watched a program on what happens to machines when there are scrapped. They covered the ICBM disposal. Then the next topic was the Spaceship 1 (C51). It was designed by Burt Rutan, and built by Beechcraft and another company that I did not recognize. This aircraft has Kinard and sweptwings backward. It has two turbo fan engines that are just about centerline mounted. I have searched Fly Away and could not find it here.Has anybody seen or heard of the samething? I hope that somebody has and has a way to download that aircraft. It looks awsome and a treat to fly.

Thank you,

This space ship one?
It's been out for a long time, I have some screenshots of it in the gallery.
You get to a certain height and drop it from the mother ship.
I think "Mad Dog" made it.

RadarMan,

No that's not the one dang it...!!! I was hoping that someelse would have seen The History Chanel today. This is an experimental Aircraft by Burt Rutan. Launching conventionaly, as in rollout and flare for takeoff. Thanks anyway. The Spaceship 1 that I am looking for actually flew escort when the other Saceship one came back to the landing area. This was a prototype and went into production and would have been sucessful but because of the unique design by Burt Rutan and the composites (complete composite build) it was too expesive to go into full production. Fifty aircraft were made and the rest lay around for demolition. One guy bought several for spare parts including the airframes and power plants. Oh well maybe someday somebody will come across it.

Thanks again,

They may have it somewhere, all we need is more information (names) to look for it.

If you contact Mad Doc he might build it if he has seen it or knows the specs. He's a very interesting and talented guy.

I saw the same show, and I have seen the plane in other movies. Here is a link to Burt Rutan's aircraft, or at least quite a few of them. I believe the one you're looking for is called the "Star..." something. Starshooter maybe, I know it was two words and the first was Star. Sorry I can't be more help. Here's the sight, and then just try google.com and type in "Burt Rutan" and see what you get.

I found it. It's called the "Starship."

lds_soldier Is this it, thanks for the name of it.

There are different "skins" for it elsewhere.

Just one problem.

That's a prop plane. I just took another look.

A great download nonetheless.

Thanks

lds_soldier,

Nevermind. I downloaded it. I will let you know if it is a flying version or not.

lds_soldier, RadarMan,

Well that was it alright. When you go to views there isn't any body to the aircraft. It handles a little differently than what I am used to but not bad. The canard makes it very touchy up front. The engines have more than enough power. The climb rate is excellent

It sounds interesting, if you get a chance post a screenshot for us.

RadarMan,

I still haven't figured out how to put in a screen shot yet...!!1 I know that somone has posted how to do that but I wasn't paying attention. There isn't a virtual cockpit. Oh well its good for now anyway. It handles quit well when you get the hang of it. I should probably try a flight in day light though. I have a ATI Radeon X800 Pro 256 mb ddr 3 ram on board for FX card. I gigb or ram, 250 gb hdd, 2.6 P 4 processor, DVD/DVDRW, CD/CDRW, 480 watt PS. And mygraphics are still a little bit choppy. I have taken out my processor and cleaned it with 000 grit steel wool. I thought that maybe I was having a heating problem but the choppiness still prevails. Any suggestions?

Nevermind about that prop thing. The Starship is a prop plane isn't it? I've been awake awhile, sorry.

Wow, what a beautiful set-up.
Did you use a tiny tiny (rice size) drop of silver paste under your CPU.
Keep the fans clean, did you add any (you should).

Try this program, it shuts down most of the programs running in the background.

RadarMan,

Yes I did put Silver Greese on the CPU and followed all of the instructions. But I still get choppy frame rates. I have it set at 30 frames. In all of the specs that I have seen this should not happen.

RadarMan,

Sorry I didn't see that you had responded. Not on my most recent build. I have booted prior to my rebuild to do a cold boot and stop programs from loading. I've found that flights at night are the most choppy though. ANy thoughts on that?

Keep your clouds at the minimum, shut off water textures and don't have scenery slide at the maximum.

You might have to play with some of your settings although that set-up of your should do an excellent job, if it's cool enough.

I use this, try it IF it fits your computer specs. After flying for a while and you close out see what the temperatures are.

RadarMan,

Will do thanks.

I saw it fly in Mojave when Space Ship One was going up. It is one of the most beautiful craft you will ever see fly. I think I have a 'blurry' picture of it somewhere I'll send it to you if you want.

tjsbbi,

It handles well in the SIM. Sure if you a picture send it to edkr@earthlink.net. You will be rejected. But don't take it personaly. I block for spamers and I don't know who you are so give it a subject that I would recognize and I will get it.

Thank you for thinking of me.

did you mean the starship C-51 that was build in 1986 and only 53 of this plane was build
