NVidia Drivers - strange question

Hi Guys,

just a quickie 😉

I have recently bought a 6800gt nvidia card, and want to know the answer to the following.

i have a media centre pc, but do you think i would get a better driver for my new card if i downloaded the standard windows xp driver, or the media centre driver? The reason i ask is that this isn't the card preinstalled in my machine but is a new card specifically for games etc, and i think that maybe the windows xp drivers may be faster than media centre ones?

Any input???????

PLEASE!!!

Micah 😉

Always go to the manufacturer for your drivers not MS.
If you want to try different drivers try Omega for your card. I think TTT uses them, wait for him if you like.

Use the driver cleaner before installing new ones.

thanks Radarman.

What are these omega drivers you speak of? Are they reliable?

I have ATI and tried some, I didn't care for them see what TTT has to say about the ones for Nvidia.
They are used by many gamers, they claim that they are better than the company issues.

I agree with Habu, you want the latest WHQL Certified Nvidia drivers which is version 77.77 (Release Date: August 11, 2005). Get the drivers, user guides and release notes here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_77.77.html

the 77.77 drivers are fine. I've been using them for a week with my 6600gt.
No problems anywhere..

There was a problem with the 77.72 version drivers to do with video display, but that was corrected in the new ones.

I had the same problem. Try this

Right click on desk top and go to properties
Go to settings and advance tap.
Click on AA change to 4
Click on AF change to 8

As I'm at work I can't see what my settings are but I think this is what they are know.
