When i try to start FS9 i get the following message(s)
Flight Simulator has detected potentially incompatible aircraft or software
File: FSSound.dll
Do you want to load this software? Click No to disable this software
then...
The version of FS2004 detected is not compatible with this version of FSUIPC! It is build 9.01.40901...You need the correct version of FS2004
Check the help-about:The build should be 9.00.30612.
FSUIPC will terminate when you select OK.
then...
Flight simulator was unable to load some aircraft or software. You can continue using Flight Simulator but this aircraft or software will be disabled.
File: FSUIPC.dll
then.. its all over and it stops trying to start. HELP
You can get the latest FSUIPC.DLL here.

As for the FSSound.dll, remove it and put it into a separate folder somewhere safe in case you need it again.
You probably loaded an aircraft that had old .dll's in it and it fouled up the sim
Let us know how you do.
What is FSUIPC? i think it was included in an aircraft i downloaded. I deleted this aircraft and the problem is solved.
Thanks
That's the best way, glad it all works now.
FSUIPC, you can about it here.

To stop this message open fs9.cfg in "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9" and add the line FSsound.dll=1 under OLDMODULES so it looks like this
[OLDMODULES]
FSsound.dll=1

All I could see that would be relevant is the following. I am going wrong somewhere. Any guidance would be appreciated gents.
[SOUND]
SOUND=1
SOUND_FADER1=0.500000
SOUND_FADER2=0.460000
SOUND_FADER3=0.300000
SOUND_FADER4=0.800000
SOUND_FADER5=0.500000
SOUND_FADER6=0.940000
SOUND_QUALITY=2
😕
OG,
If the [OLDMODULES] heading is not in your fs9.cfg, then create it.
