FS2004 crash and restart

Guest

Hello,

My system is Athlon XP 2600+, 1 gig 3200 ram, Radeon 9600 pro. Anyway, the game loads the main menu, but then if I click on create a flight, it goes there, crashes, and my computer restarts. Or I go to Options, it still crashes and restarts. It used to play before, but I think I cranked up all the video settings to super high, and that led to it not being able to load, since the Create a Flight menu for example contains in-game models animated and etc. Before I try and re-install the game to its default setting, does anyone have any problems with any specific video setting that causes crashes on certain systems? My computer doesn't really have any problems, and I am very aware of any activity that goes on... regularly check for spyware, etc, etc. All I have running when I run MSF2004 is Sygate and MSN. And some other programs in the task list, like Ipod, Itunes, ATI related executables, AVG. etc.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Well,

I don't think I can help too much.... but I wanted to let you know you are not alone. I too just started having this problem. It came without warning or change to my overall PC or FS2004 file(s).

My PC is almost identical to what you described.

The only unusuall thing that happened prior to my problem was that my PC was turned off suddenly, w/o shutting down (by my son).... FS was not running at the time. But after I rebooted and tried to run FS.... I could do anything within FS except fly.

All of the FS menues and settings work, but any time I try to start a flight, aproximately 10-20 seconds after the flight is loaded FS2004 locks up and my PC immidiately reboots.

I have even done a "clean" install of FS2004 and the problem continues.

As for now I am at a loss and am very upset Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad ..... I have given up on things for now and cannot use FS at all. so if you or anyone else sees this and can assist in any way let me know

#1 use this, you have too many programs running in the background.
Boots, use it also, everyone can benefit from it.
https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/2660/fs2004-speedup-07-beta/

Both should clean out your old video drivers and reinstall new ones, they can become corrupted.
http://www.drivercleaner.net/

Before you do that defrag your computers.

Reset your settings to default, if the sim runs then play with the settings until you get what you like, or what the computer can stand.

Let us know how you do.

Good luck!

Both of you should do this:

Right click on "My Computer"

Click "Properties"

Select the "Advanced" tab

In the frame called "Startup and Recovery" click the "Settings" button

A new window pops up, in the "System Failure" frame you will see 3 tick boxes.

Make sure "Automatically Restart" is NOT ticked...

If it was already unticked then I am a bit confused.. I suspect it is ticked though.

Now, try and reproduce your errors and make sure you have a pad and pen ready.

You should get a blue screen of death, write down the error message and the bigass long number

something like 0xB3000000 (0xB3000000, 0xB3000000, 0xB3000000 0xB3000000 0xB3000000) (obviously made up)

and paste it in here or google for it, it sounds like you are having a hardware related issue which will most likely be caused by drivers as Radarman says... this way though you will be able to find out exactly what the problem is

Mine does that too! Thanks man for the hint about unchecking the aoto restart option. When mine does it, I will post the 'bigass' number. HA! HA

Also, the only time mine restarts other than when running flight sim is when I am on AOL online searching. I was told that FS9 and windows share a same DLL and sometimes FS9 corrupts it.

My machine is very similar to that spec too - Greekman72 very kindly posted some useful steps to go thru:

https://forum.flyawaysimulation.com/forum/topic/9556/help-fs2004-keeps-crashing/ (it's the 9th post down), and then it worked fine! Thanx again Greekman! 😎

Otherwise i could suggest the following procedure ➡

1.Uninstal FS
2.Delete the FS folder in ''My documents''
3.Delete FS folder from C/program files.
5.Empty your recycle bin.
6.Click My computer/right click drive ''c''/properties/disk cleanup/click all the tabs you will see and clean them
7.Clean up your registries from Strat/run/type ''regedit''/edit/find/type ''flight'' ...or use a registry cleaning program like F.E. ''RegCleaner''

8.Just in case run a spam-add on cleaner like ''Spybot''

http://www.download.com/3120-20_4-0.html?tag=srch&nid=1&qt=spybot&tg=dl-20&search.x=23&search.y=10

and ''Ad-aware''

http://www.download.com/3120-20_4-0.html?qt=ad-aware&tg=dl-20

9.Reboot your system.
10.Instal FS.

i found this when i slapped the error in google

worth trying

The problem may lie in your virtual memory settings (it was for me). To fix it (quoting http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;810093)

1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Under Performance, click Settings.
4. Click the Advanced tab.
5. Under Virtual Memory, click Change.
6. Click No paging file. Click OK, click OK, and then click OK.
7. Restart your computer.
8. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
9. Click the Advanced tab.
10. Under Performance, click Settings.
11. Click the Advanced tab.
12. Under Virtual Memory, click Change.
13. Click System managed sized. Click OK, click OK, and then click OK.
14. Restart your computer.

I also found this on the microsoft site that talks about this kind of error

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/reskit/en-us/Default.asp?url=/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/reskit/en-us/prmd_stp_ottj.asp

it is quite a short article that links to another but is suggesting that one of your drivers isn't playing very nicely, have you changed any drivers recently?

Have you got all the latest drivers for your sound card, mobo, gfx card etc?
