i juat bought a340 i have a manual and it says about the emgs and init

i have to open the mcdu panel and using the keypad enter cyyz/kord press lsk1r (line select key, 1 right side for from/to but when i do nothing appears on the from/to orange lines am able to move to diffrent pages but not able to enter words and numbers any help on this ?? thanks

You understand that the text is typed in the "scratchpad" at the bottom of the screen (Bottom left) Once you type for example EGLL/EGBB then press the LSK next to "from/to".
