I downloaded a a380, it came up in my planes section on fsx, but when i copy and paste other planes into the aircraft folder the fsx does not display them, and publisher drop down box just says Unknown showing it knows more add on are there but doesnt display them,

I wonder if someone could shed some light on what is happening?

Many thanks

There are many reasons why it doesn't show:

1. Its Texture only.

2. there are many folders(means that a folder covers the real aircraft folder.

It is good to make sure your doing good by clicking in the folder, than make sure the model, texture, aircraft.cfg, etc are there(sometimes you may have to click through many folders to find them). Then put the folder(not the things in the folder but the folder itself) that has the model, texture, etc into your aircraft folder just like you've been doing 😀 !

For the planes that are texture only, there is a way of installing but thats a different story.

Open the aircraft.cfg of your B737-800 with Notepad and look for those lines:

ui_manufacturer="Boeing"
ui_type="737-800"
ui_variation="Boeing livery"
ui_typerole="Commercial Airliner"
ui_createdby="Microsoft Corporation"

If that last line (in bold) is missing, the Publisher drop down box will display: Unknown.

I tried these. And the virgin a380 with no luck.

Now THAT file(second link) is really not a plane to download:
its a fix for fs2004s 747.

So that download(second link) will NOT work

about the 737-600(first link), its easy, just run the Setup

I take it you've done that and established that this solves the problem?
