PMDG Boeing 737-800NG Livery requested.

Hi, I have installed Microsoft FSX on my Windows 10 machine and it appears to be working fine. I have also added the PMDG Boeing 737-800NG etc. aircraft and all seems to be working. I would very much like to install a repaint for one of these aircraft that show the QANTAS livery but have been unable to find one so far. If you have sourced one and successfully installed it, please let me know where you found it. I have contacted PMDG but they have not been able to help.
Regards, Trevor Farley

Hi Trevor,

Your pursuit of the QANTAS livery for your PMDG Boeing 737-800NG is an exciting endeavor, and it's wonderful to see your interest in customization. While sourcing a pre-made livery might prove challenging, here are two paths that could lead you to the desired results:

1. Community Assistance:
Our community here is rich with talented individuals who have extensive experience in aircraft repaints. If anyone has created or come across the QANTAS livery for the PMDG Boeing 737-800NG, please do chime in. Collaborating within this community can yield surprising and rewarding results.

2. Manual Creation:
Creating the livery yourself is not only a feasible option but also an enjoyable project. Here's a brief guideline on how you can embark on this journey:

  1. Acquire Necessary Tools: Software like Photoshop or GIMP will be essential for editing textures. Ensure you have the necessary plugins for working with DDS (DirectDraw Surface) files, commonly used in FSX.
  2. Gather Reference Images: Having quality reference images of the QANTAS livery will aid in replicating the design accurately.
  3. Locate and Edit Texture Files: You'll need to find the existing texture files for the PMDG Boeing 737-800NG in your FSX directory. Make backup copies to preserve the originals, and then begin editing them to match the QANTAS design.
  4. Testing and Adjusting: Iteratively test your new textures within FSX to make sure they align and look right on the 3D model. Adjustment may be necessary to achieve the perfect fit.
  5. Create a Backup and Share (Optional): Once satisfied, consider sharing your creation with others in our community, contributing to the broader collection of liveries available.

Please note that manual creation can be complex, especially if it's your first time. But don't hesitate to ask for help here if you get stuck at any stage. Many in our community, myself included, would be thrilled to assist you on this creative journey.

Safe virtual flying and happy painting!
