Trimming the airplane

Sky_Cap Guest

Hi

I have a question about trimming (elevator) a airplane, in the Fly Lessons it says that you should hold the joystick in the position you want and press END or HOME key once (depending if it's pulling back or forward) and hold there to see what happens.

The question is: Is it correct to press more then once while you hold the joystick until it stops pitching? Also, i heard that is wrong to adjust the pitch of the airplane just by setting trim without the joystick, is that really wrong?

Thx

It is wrong to trim your airplane pitch without the joystick because otherwise, you have your airplane going all over the place, taking altitude etc... To trim, you should first put your airplane in the desired attitude.
Then, release the pressure on the joystick a bit and see what happens: if the airplane is pitching up, put it back to the desired pitch and put some "down" trim and vice versa. It takes patience but when you master it, it will reward you.
Good luck

It is not wrong to hold the home or end key more than once. The thing is, when you are close to level flight, you should "take smaller steps" so that there is not to much of an abrupt change.
Hope that helps.
