Speaking for myself ,Spams in general dont bother me...i ignore them and thats all...
But especially for Fly Away and since i know that we have young members here and also that this is Flight Simulation site ,and not a free forum, I prefer to be clean and decent...
And thats the way it has to be

Yes,for the reason that i don't want any young people going on to the forums here and clicking on a link to a porno site. That sort of s**t should be peddled elsewhere.

Yes, for the same reason it would bother me if someone came into my home and crapped on the floor.

Personally, no, it doesn't bother me but it is slightly irritating. The only major reasons I want to see it go is to give the moderators a break and for the sake of younger members.

the only solution I could think of for this problem is to cut off guest posts.
problem is that guests make up a large number of the flyaway community...

so yeah, it bothers me a little- But think of the children! 😞

I find it (spam) extremely annoying but like TTT I find the language in this topic worse than the spam you are talking about.
Garbage is their business, politeness is yours.

Spam is a way of life on the internet and will get worse. That is for certain. Like others have pointed out its irritating but I just ignore it. The posters are getting more cunning though by giving the thread a plausible title or posting in an already active and vibrant thread. It annoys me that these people do it when its illegal and commercially totally pointless. I don't like the idea of children stumbling across that either. Websites should ensure children are protected from that material or give warnings. I know its impractical to expect the moderators to be here 24-7 to scan the posts so how about recruiting more moderators who have powers to remove obscene posts and create a kind of 'rota' to ensure a mod is logged on constantly??

Did you know the family who invented spam tried to sue the W3C for starting the term that defines unsolicited communiqué!

this is me, mypilot, on a diffferent computer and too lazy to log in. Why don't we cut off guests from posting but allow free membership to the forums. Just charge that 5 bucks for the downloads. Idea

Because the download section is so bad that no one would pay? 😂

I'm concerned that things could backfire on everyone who uses this site. The fact is this site increases in size at an alarming rate each day because each day many posts are created that all have scripts to show images like avatars etc which are stored on the server side thus increasing server space needed. XML allows dynamic webpages to be displayed client side which would help but that's one for the coders 😉

There are many users that are waiting to join because it has to be done manually (by a living, breathing human) and the couldn't-care-less attitude by the sites administrators suggest the website we all know and love could be headed to the **** heap. I'm genuine when I say that because I know I've only discovered this place in the last few months and many of you have been here for years but I've quickly realised this is the best place for any flight sim enthusiast. Its a fact of internet life though that websites come and go. Businesses come and go. I understand there are people who have paid their fee to join where I bet the fee has been processed but are still waiting for someone to do all the paperwork and get them onboard.

Hitting them where it hurts might not be the best answer. The website might be in financial turmoil pulling their hair out working how to survive the 'token payment for life' pledge while every day the whole thing becomes a bigger disk space headache. A phone call to someone will highlight our issues and solve them in a more diplomatic way. I'm good on the phone Whip

Has anyone

1.) Registered to join FlyAway.

2.) Had the money taken.

3.) Still not a full member??

I don't believe the site boasts 85'000 paid members and if someone doesn't act soon and sort problems out for the loyal users who visit here to use the forums, browse the news articles and click on the affiliate links and generally keep it alive then the whole thing might be more fly-by-night than flyaway.
